Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) Chairman Euisun Chung visited the company‘s production site in the Czech Republic during the Chuseok holiday and reaffirmed his commitment to the eco-friendly vehicle market in Europe despite the recent slowdown in demand for electric vehicles.

During his visit to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) on Thursday, Chung emphasized how important the plant has been as a key site for future investment in eco-friendly mobility and technology. “The Czech plant is a crucial facility for our vision of eco-friendly mobility,” he added.

Chung inspected the facilities and was briefed on an update about the company’s performance in Europe. He also toured battery-system assembly factory run by Hyundai Mobis Co. and had lunch with local employees.

The Czech plant exports most of its output, including models such as the i30 and Tucson, to nearby European markets. It produced more than 340,000 vehicles in 2023, making it Hyundai’s third-largest overseas production facility, after India and the United States. As the plant added KONA Electric to its production lineup in 2020, eco-friendly vehicle production at the Czech factory is expected to hit 500,000 units by the end of 2024.
