Dongsuh Foods preps 2024 KANU Barista Championship

Dongsuh Foods Corporation announced on Thursday that it will host its first “2024 KANU Barista Championship,” a competition centered around its signature coffee brand, KANU. Unlike typical hand-drip coffee competitions, this competition will require participants to use espresso machines, with the company providing the beans.

The competition, themed “Invitation to KANU,” is open for applications via the KANU Paddle app until September 24th, 2024. After the preliminary rounds, which will take place from October 15th to 18th at the Maxim Plant in Hannam-dong, Seoul, a select group of finalists will compete in the championship finals on November 16th and 17th.

The winner will be awarded a 30 million woncash prize. A panel of experts, including Um Bo-ram, the 2023 World Barista Championship (WBC) winner, will judge the competition.

A spokesperson from Dongsuh Foods said that the event aims to promote premium coffee culture while showcasing the quality of KANU beans.
