CHINA-BEIJING-GEOGRAPHIC SCIENCES-MULTI-MODAL LARGE LANGUAGE MODEL-UNVEILING (CN)

(240919) -- BEIJING, Sept. 19, 2024 (Xinhua) -- Su Fenzhen, deputy director of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), speaks during the release event of Sigma Geography, a geographic sciences multi-modal Large Language Model (LLM), in Beijing, capital of China, Sept. 19, 2024. A geographic sciences multi-modal LLM, the first of its kind in the world, was unveiled in Beijing on Thursday. It could support the integration of geography and artificial intelligence and help accelerate geographical discoveries.

The model, named Sigma Geography, was developed by a team of researchers from the IGSNRR, the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research and the Institute of Automation, all under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other organizations. (Xinhua/Li Xin)
