South Korean convenience store chain CU introduced its premium makgeolli, ‘TAK-ALL,’ to customers on Wednesday, with the new product aiming to differentiate itself from existing offerings with higher quality. Priced at 7,900 won ($5.92) for a 500ml bottle, TAK-ALL is set to appeal to discerning consumers.

The name ‘TAK-ALL’ combines the Korean phrases for “excellent price” and “right quality,” emphasizing its high quality at a reasonable price and designed to evoke the word “excellent.”

TAK-ALL makgeolli is characterized by a rich rice content, the absence of artificial sweeteners, and a higher alcohol content. The product contains 47.4 percent rice—about five times the level found in regular makgeolli, which typically contains around 10 percent. It offers a deep grain aroma and the natural sweetness of domestically grown rice, making it a good pairing with pajeon (green onion pancakes), meat dishes, and spicy foods.

“As makgeolli has recently enhanced its premium image, consumption is expanding even among younger consumers,” a CU official said.
