KB Financial’s 2023 ESG efforts created $4.3 bn in social value

KB Financial Group generated a total of about 5.7 trillion won ($4.3 billion) in social value via its environmental, social and governance (ESG) management in 2023.

According to KB Financial Group’s report released Wednesday, the group’s social value for the year increased 60.6 percent from 2022’s 3.55 trillion won. KB Financial calculates the monetary value of the impact of its ESG management activities on the environment and society on an annual basis. By category, the contributions were estimated at 302.7 billion won in the environmental sector, 2.38 trillion won in the social sector, and 3.01 trillion won in governance and other areas.

The group added that it remains committed to further advance the Group’s ESG efforts.
