The former Korean Legation building located in Washington, D.C.
The Old Korean Legation, a former South Korean embassy in Washington D.C., the United States, has been listed as a National Register of Historic Place (NRHP) by the U.S. federal government.

The National Register of Historic Places refers to the government’s list of buildings, sites, districts, and objects that are all considered worthy of preservation for their historical importance or artistic value.

The building is historically significant as the site of diplomatic relations between Korea and the U.S.

Originally built in 1877 as a residential place, Old Korean Legation was Korea’s first diplomatic mission in a Western country and played a crucial role in the country‘s diplomacy during the Joseon and Korean Empire eras. It has been turned into a three-story historic house museum in 2018.
