High-performance SSD for data centers, ‘PEB110 E1.S’
SK hynix Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has developed a new high-performance SSD, the PEB110 E1.S, designed for data centers. The next-generation SSD offers twice the performance of previous models, addressing the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.

With the PCIe Gen5 interface, the PEB110 achieves a data transfer rate of up to 32 giga-transfers per second (GT/s), doubling the bandwidth of its predecessor.

This advancement boosts both data processing speed and power efficiency, improving performance by 30 percent compared to previous models.

SK hynix said that customer demand for high-performance NAND solutions, including data center SSDs and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), is rapidly increasing as AI technology becomes more prominent.

The company is currently working with global data center partners to complete product certifications, aiming to begin mass production by the second quarter of next year.

The PEB110 is part of SK hynix’s strategy to diversify its SSD portfolio, following the successful release of its ultra-high-performance PS1010 SSD.

Security has also been a key focus in the development of the PEB110.

For the first time, SK hynix has integrated the Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM) technology into its data center SSDs.

This feature enhances server authentication and monitoring capabilities, addressing the rising concern over cyberattacks on data centers. SK hynix believes the PEB110 will meet the stringent security requirements of its customers.

The PEB110 will be available in three storage capacities—2TB, 4TB, and 8TB—and will support OCP 2.5 specifications, making it compatible with various global data centers.
