Dongwon Group to invest $30 mn to cut carbon emissions by 2030

Dongwon Group announced on Monday that it is launching a carbon-neutral initiative that aims to reduce carbon emissions by more than 40 percent by 2030.

The conglomerate plans to invest 40 billion won ($29.8 million) to cut emissions by nearly half across more than 60 key business sites.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2020, the group has laid the groundwork for the initiative by creating energy-saving plans for each business site and installing solar panels at major locations across the country.

As part of the initiative, Dongwon Industries Co., the group’s holding company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG Electronics Inc. to develop a high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) solution.
