Samsung Electronics Co. is committed to preventing musculoskeletal disorders in its workers by improving the working conditions at all its offices and plants.

The company has introduced healthcare facilities dedicated to protecting workers from work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The centers conduct health checkups for employees and suggest how to protect workers from physically demanding manufacturing processes.

Samsung Electronics said it has 16 such centers across the country, including Pyeongtaek, Suwon, Gwangju, Gumi, and Seoul. The centers have high-end healthcare machines such as three-dimensional body shape analysis systems, hyperbaric oxygen tanks, pilates gear, and non-motorized treadmills. The company also increased the number of resident certified sports instructors to 69. They offer personalized programs for employees, including consultations, exercise suggestions, and treatment plans.

Based on feedback from its production sites, Samsung Electronics has identified specific tasks that hurt the musculoskeletal system.

The company found 38 such tasks in a survey of more than 1,200-unit operations at its Gumi plant in June and July 2024, and now plans to revise three of them by the end of the year.
