Actor Park Bo-young and Ahn Jae-hong will host the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opening ceremony, the festival organizer said Friday.
“We have chosen Park and Ahn to host BIFF’s opening ceremony as both have a wide fan base and excel in portraying unique and lovable characters regardless of the genre,” the festival organizer said in a press release.
The opening ceremony will be held on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae District.
Park attended the festival in 2015 with the comedy-drama film “Collective Invention” (2015) and the horror film “The Silenced” (2015).
Ahn first visited the festival in 2013 with the film "The Sunshine Boys" (2013) and also attended BIFF last year with the streaming platform Tving’s series "LTNS," of which parts were screened.
BIFF, one of Korea’s biggest film events, will begin on Oct. 2 and run through Oct. 11. A total of 224 films will be screened, including Netflix’s Korean historical film “Uprising” and BTS member RM’s documentary “RM: Right People, Wrong Place.”
“Uprising” was also announced as the festival’s opening film, the first time a movie from a streaming platform has been selected to open the event.
Detailed information, such as BIFF's programs and the film lineup, is available on the official site.
