SK broadband uses AI to cut news production time to 4 minutes

SK broadband announced on Thursday that it has developed a new broadcasting solution in collaboration with SK telecom, which uses artificial intelligence technology for news production. The solution will be applied to local cable TV channel news programs.

According to SK broadband, the new AI tool drastically reduces news production time from 45 minutes to just 4 minutes. “The entire production process is completed within minutes by simply inputting the article content and selecting elements such as the AI reporter’s voice and background music,” a company official explained. This system is already being used in the company’s local cable channel, “ch B tv.”

The AI solution was developed by incorporating the expertise of producers, journalists, and technical directors from SK broadband’s cable broadcasting division, alongside SK telecom’s AI technology. Notable features include voice synthesis and lip-syncing technologies that can mimic a reporter’s tone and speech patterns. The company emphasized that the tool eliminates constraints related to production time and space, allowing for quicker news reporting during emergencies. This improvement is expected to enhance both viewer satisfaction and the news program’s competitiveness.
