North Korea began to float balloons assumed to contain filth on Thursday evening, marking the 14th such launch of this year.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced Thursday evening that the North was launching trash balloons to Seoul, noting that the current northwesterly wind could carry the balloons to Seoul and Gyeonggi.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government sent a public safety alert warning people to beware of falling objects. It said it would inform the population if such flying objects entered the city’s airspace.
