KIS, Good Neighbors Global Impact sign carbon reduction MOU

Korea Investment & Securities (KIS) announced on Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the “Good Neighbors Global Impact” foundation to develop greenhouse gas reduction projects.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will conduct a feasibility study on a joint project aimed at preventing deforestation in Uganda, while also working to develop new community-based initiatives to accelerate efforts in combating climate change.

KIS became the first securities company in South Korea to be selected as a market maker for the Korean Emissions Trading Scheme (K-ETS) in 2021, and it has been actively developing various greenhouse gas reduction projects since then.

“This partnership provides an opportunity for private capital to be invested in Good Neighbors Global Impact’s relief efforts,” KIS CEO Kim Sung-hwan said.
