[Hotel News] In welcoming the long-awaited fall season, three hotels around Seoul launched menus of gourmet teas and desserts to be enjoyed with the panoramic cityscape. The Korea JoongAng Daily compiled a list of three new afternoon tea sets this fall from the Courtyard, Grand Hyatt and Grand InterContinental hotels.
Courtyard Seoul Times Square
Mo Mo Bar at Courtyard Seoul Times Square in Yeongdeungpo District, western Seoul, is set to launch the Autumn's Cozy Nook Afternoon Tea Set on Sept. 9.
Desserts include pumpkin cheese cake, black sesame pound cake, mont blanc tarts made with seasonal chestnuts, wine-pickled figs, injeolmi (a type of Korean rice cake covered in roasted soybean powder) monaka, quince jelly and sweet potato pie.
Available drinks include lavender gin, a non-alcoholic fizz cocktail infusing rosemary and locally sourced naju pear, teas from tea brand Good & Proper, organic Chardonnay and coffee.
The Autumn's Cozy Nook Afternoon Tea Set runs through Dec. 8, every day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. upon reservation. Reservations must be made at least one day prior, and the price for two people is 72,000 won. A 10 percent discount is available for those who book through Naver Reservations.

Lobby Lounge & Bar at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, launched its Elizabethan Royal High Tea set on Sunday.
Collaborating with the InterContinental London Park Lane's head patisserie chef, the tea set is a modern take on Queen Elizabeth I's favorite desserts and Queen Elizabeth II's coronation luncheon in 1953, said the hotel.
The menu includes savory items, such as a pastrami asparagus sandwich, a dill cream, cheese and cucumber sandwich, chicken brioche and British scones, as well as sweets like strawberry rhubarb tea biscuits, rice pudding, kiwi pavlova and hazelnut mousse cake.
The hotel will be serving coffee and tea, including the hotel's signature tea selection put forth in light of its 35th year of opening. It offers oolong, white and camomile teas. All the china used to serve the afternoon tea set are from Wedgwood, the same china used by the British monarchy, said the hotel.
The Elizabethan Royal High Tea is available through Oct. 31 every day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. upon reservation through Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas's website. Prices for two begin at 120,000 won. The tea set is available to-go as well.

Grand Hyatt Seoul
The Grand Hyatt Seoul's lobby lounge Gallery in Yongsan District, central Seoul, is serving the Valrhona Chocolate Afternoon Tea starting Monday.
Collaborating with Valrhona, Grand Hyatt said that it has received recipes from the chocolate brand's pastry chef Guillaume Lopvet to curate desserts incorporating seasonal fruits.
On the afternoon tea stand, there are canelés made with Valrhona's P125 chocolate, dulce pear tarts, hazelnut pecan financiers, milk chocolate cookies incorporating buckwheat and black sesame and a yuja dessert.
During weekend afternoons, the hotel's buffet is holding a dessert station offering Valrhona Opalys 33 percent ice cream and Valrhona Manjari chocolate sorbet, which combines a roasted nut flavor note with a red berry-like acidity.
The Valrhona Chocolate Afternoon Tea runs through Nov. 30 every day from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Prices for two begin at 100,000 won on weekdays and 150,000 won on the weekends. Reservations are required through the hotel's official website.
