South Korean food company Ottogi Corp. announced on Tuesday that it began a new business collaboration with medifood startup Eatmapl Co. to develop and support medifood, which is attracting attention as a promising future food industry.

Ottogi plans to establish a production collaboration system for Eatmapl‘s new business-to-business (B2B) ventures, which target companies, small hospitals, and other entities.

Medifood refers to food products specifically manufactured to meet the nutritional needs of individuals with certain medical conditions, as defined by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Ottogi invested in Eatmapl in May 2023 to expand its knowledge and experience in the medifood industry in line with the growth of the future food industry and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the medifood startup for business cooperation in August of the same year. The company aims to build a strong health management business via food, including medifood, moving forward.

Founded in 2017, Eatmapl is a medifood specialist that provides customized health meals for those who need to regulate their diet due to medical conditions. It expanded into the B2B market in July 2024, with its “Delicious Low-Sodium Kitchen” initiative.
