YUMINST, a small- and mid-size company, has unveiled a new technology designed to give fire warnings amid escalated safety concerns on batteries used in electric vehicles (EV).

YUMINST has developed a film-shaped sensor that can detect battery leaks early, one of the main causes of EV fires. The sensor is set for mass production.

In most cases, EV fires start with overheated batteries. Gas release from overheated batteries causes electrolyte leakages and then blazes.

The film-type sensor can monitor all signs of battery defects, including heat generation, expansion, and leakage, and identify potential battery issues early.
