A solo exhibition featuring South Korean artist Yoo Youngkuk is taking place at the PKM Gallery in Samcheong-dong, Jongno District, central Seoul.

The exhibition, titled “Yoo Youngkuk: Stand on the Golden Mean,” features Yoo‘s oil paintings on canvas from the 1950s to the 1980s, along with archival materials that trace his life as an artist.

Of the 34 paintings on display until October 10, 2024, 21 are unpublished works.

The late Yoo (1916–2002) is a pioneering figure in Korean abstract painting who is known for painting natural landscapes by listening to the inner voices of humans. He once said, “Mountains change every time you look at them. Ultimately, the mountain is not in front of me but within me.”

Currently, the Yoo Youngkuk Art Foundation is participating in the Venice Biennale’s official collateral exhibition, “A Journey to the Infinite.”
