Samsung’s AI appliances to get new features in Smart Forward update

Samsung Electronics Co. will roll out new features for its kitchen appliances through its Smart Forward software update service starting at the end of August 2024. The updates will be available for Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerators, Bespoke AI dishwashers, and other kitchen products released in 2024, the company said on Friday.

Starting later in the month, Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerators will get a new background feature that allows users to create custom background images from seven themes and six art styles. These images can be applied to the refrigerator‘s cover screen to change the mood of the kitchen or sent to the whiteboard app to share messages with family members.

The “Quick Remote” feature will be introduced to the 2024 Kitchen product line starting in September. The feature, which was introduced last month on some of Samsung’s robotic vacuum and air conditioner models, appears on smartphones when they are near SmartThings-connected appliances for easy control via the app.

It allows users to pause or stop cooking appliances, monitor refrigerator temperatures, and check door status.

Bespoke AI 14- and 12-place dishwashers launched after 2023 will have an updated lower rack cup wash cycle.

Designed for the increasing use of personal tumblers, this update allows users to raise the upper rack to wash long tumblers up to 27 centimeters in length, saving 18 minutes compared to the standard cycle.

Samsung will showcase these Smart Forward updates at 2024‘s Internationale FunkAusstellung (IFA), Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show, which will place in Berlin starting on September 6th, 2024.

“We will continue to expand the Smart Forward service to reflect new lifestyle trends and provide consumers with the latest features,” the company said.
