Samsung Electronics to unveil AI-based Samsung Food service at IFA 2024

Samsung Electronics Co. said on Wednesday that it will unveil Samsung Food, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered service that offers customized recipes, meal planning, and smart home compatibility at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany.

Initially introduced at IFA 2023, Samsung Food is a mobile app designed to be used in sync with digital gadgets and home appliances manufactured by Samsung Electronics, including smartphones and TVs.

The platform offers a wide range of personalized assistance that helps users discover new dishes, make tailored meal plans, and order ingredients online. Currently available in 104 countries and eight languages, Samsung Food has more than 6 million users worldwide.

During the exhibition in Berlin taking place between September 6 and 10, Samsung Electronics will unveil Samsung Food Plus, an upgraded version of Samsung Food that offers personalized diet and health management programs.

The new service allows users to fill in ingredients directly in the app by taking pictures of them with their mobile phones. With vision AI technology, the app can recognize multiple ingredients in a photo.

In recipe suggestions, the service uses ingredients close to their expiration date first to help users minimize food waste.

The app also provides features such as targeted intake, weekly meal planning, customized recipes, and trend analysis of five key nutrients, all tailored to personal information such as body metrics, age, and work-out habits.
