LG CNS, Seoul National University to foster DX talent

LG CNS Co., a digital transformation company under South Korea’s LG Group, will collaborate with Seoul National University (SNU) to foster talent in the digital transformation (DX) sector optimized for industrial environments.

LG CNS announced on Tuesday that it signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with SNU at LG Sciencepark in Magok, western Seoul, on Monday.

Under the agreement, the company will set up new talent training programs for SNU‘s master course in industrial engineering. The goal is to actively secure talent through tailored DX education.

The training areas include mathematical optimization, a technology that calculates all possible scenarios based on available resources and conditions to find the most efficient solution, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and consulting.

LG CNS will select scholarship recipients from students admitted to the master’s program at SNU starting next year and will provide them with tuition support and a monthly research stipend.

The company will also offer internship opportunities to help students gain practical experience and will guarantee employment at LG CNS for graduates who complete the master‘s degree through this training track.

LG CNS also plans to strengthen collaborative research with SNU’s faculty in areas such as mathematical optimization, data analysis, and production systems.

Mathematical optimization is a key area where LG CNS has maintained close cooperation with SNU’s Department of Industrial Engineering, according to the company.

LG CNS also emphasized that it is accelerating its industry-academia cooperation efforts by establishing contract-based departments at major universities in Korea and promoting internship programs that lead to employment opportunities.
