A bus accident in Yazd province, central Iran, claimed the lives of 28 Pakistani pilgrims and injured 23 others as they were traveling to Iraq for the Arbaeen commemoration late on 20 August, according to Iranian state-run media. The bus overturned at the Dehshir-Taftan checkpoint and caught fire, with officials citing brake system failure and road inclination as causes. Among the deceased, 11 were women and 17 were men.
