A bus accident in Yazd, Iran, claimed the lives of 28 Pakistani pilgrims and injured 23 others as they traveled to Iraq for the Arbaeen commemoration, Pakistan's Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, said. The bus overturned at the Dehshir-Taftan checkpoint and caught fire, with officials citing brake system failure and road inclination as causes. Among the deceased, 11 were women and 17 were men. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit to assist in repatriating the deceased and providing medical care to the injured. EPA/WAQAR HUSSAIN
