Samsung AI home appliances wins top security rating again

Samsung Electronics Co. has once again received the highest rating of ‘Diamond’ for its products from global certification company UL Solutions Inc. in its Internet of Things (IoT) security assessment, the South Korean tech giant said on Tuesday.

The products that received the top grade this time include the Bespoke AI Combo, an all-in-one washer-dryer product, the EHS, a high-efficiency heat pump for residential use, and the Bespoke Slide-in Induction Range.

Samsung’s premium refrigerator, the Bespoke AI Family Hub, was the first in the global home appliance industry to receive the Diamond grade in March 2024. Its Bespoke AI Steam all-in-one robot vacuum cleaner also got the same rating. Samsung Electronics currently has a total of five Diamond ratings with the latest addition and has the most top-rated products in the home appliance industry.

UL Solutions assesses the risk of hacking and security levels of smart appliances and assigns security grades in five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. The Diamond grade requires passing stringent tests in areas such as detecting malware modification, preventing unauthorized access attempts, and anonymizing user data.
