Terra Light beer sells over 10 mn bottles in two weeks

South Korea’s top liquor maker HiteJinro Co. announced on Sunday that its new beer, Terra Light, has sold over 10 million bottles just two weeks after its launch.

According to Nielsen Korea, Terra Light, which hit the market on July 3, outsold the second-ranking brand by 1.4 times in major supermarkets across the country in July, making it the top-selling light beer in terms of market share.

In response to strong sales, HiteJinro has increased production by more than 1.5 times its initial plan.

Terra Light has an alcohol content of 4 percent, 0.6 percent lower than the original Terra, and contains 25 kcal per 100ml, which is one-third the calories of regular beer.

“We will ensure that Terra Light leads the new trend in the domestic beer market, aligning with the healthy pleasure lifestyle of enjoying health management,” said Oh Sung-taek, head of the company’s marketing division.
