Evacuation of civilians from border settlements of the Kursk region

Acting Governor of Kursk Region Alexey Smirnov stated that the situation in the region remains difficult with the Ukrainian Armed Forces currently in control of 28 settlements, home to around 2,000 people. According to Smirnov, some 121,000 people have been so far evacuated from the Kursk region. A special train will deliver about 300 residents of the Kursk region to the Saratov, Samara and Tambov regions, the press service of the Kursk region government reported. The press service of the government specified that most of the evacuees are people with limited mobility, that need specialized assistance. Employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry helped them get placed on the train. In total, more than 170 temporary accommodation points are in operation in 24 regions of the country. In addition, more than 470 temporary accommodation points in 57 regions are ready to receive residents of the Kursk region, the press service of the regional government added. EPA/STRINGER
