Eom Ji-sung got his first assist for Swansea City in a 3-1 win against League Two side Gillingham FC Wednesday, setting up the final goal of the game in the 90+6 minute.
It was the 22-year-old's first regular-season appearance at Swansea.com Stadium in Swansea, Wales, which came days after their 2024-25 Championship season opener — a 1-0 away loss to Middlesbrough, in which Eom played the full 90 minutes.
Swansea were already up 2-1, with midfielder Ronald getting the first goal in the 24th minute to give the home side the advantage. And striker Liam Cullen made things 2-0 in the 70th minute, responding quickly to a cross from the right.
Eom came on as a sub for Ronald two minutes later, with Swansea manager Luke Williams also slotting in midfielder Goncalo Francos. Gillingham denied the Welsh club a clean sheet in the 87th minute, but Swansea held off a last-minute draw as Eom helped seal the win.
Eom, reacting to a deflected shot by a Gillingham defender, knocked the ball over to Azeem Abdulai, who easily sent the ball into the right side of the net from the center of the pitch.
Eom joined the Championship from K League 1 side Gwangju FC in July after weeks of back-and-forth between the two clubs.
Wednesday's win secured Swansea a spot in the next round of the domestic tournament, where they will face League One side Wycombe Wanderers at home on Aug. 27.
Swansea have their first home game of the Championship season Saturday against Preston.
