Hansae inks business agreement to promote American Football

Hansae Co. said on Wednesday that it signed a business agreement with the Korea American Football Association (KAFA) at its Yeouido headquarters in Seoul on Tuesday to discuss future collaboration plans aimed at developing and expanding American football in Korea.

The South Korean apparel company and KAFA plan to engage in various exchanges and collaborations to promote American football in the country, including providing uniforms and team gear for the men’s and women’s national teams as well as establishing the Hansae Cup, a new amateur American football league.

Hansae Vice Chairman Kim Ik-whan was appointed as the chairman of the Flag Football Olympic Preparation Committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics during the signing ceremony. Kim plans to actively support the Korean flag football national teams in their quest to take part in the Olympic Games.

Kim will also make his first appearance as the head of the Olympic Preparation Committee by attending the “2024 Flag Football World Championships,” which will take place in Finland on August 26th, 2024.

Flag football was selected as a demonstration sport for the LA Olympics. Unlike American football, flag football prohibits tackling, which lowers the risk of injury.

“I am pleased to be able to contribute to the development of American football in Korea,” Kim said. “I will do my utmost with active engagement and support to meet expectations, bearing the significant responsibility of leading our national teams to their first Olympic appearance.”
