Director Park Chan-wook’s latest film, tentatively titled “NO Other Choice,” is set to begin filming on Saturday, its distributor CJ ENM said.
The film will feature a star-studded lineup with actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won and Yoo Yeon-seok.
“NO Other Choice” revolves around an employee at a paper manufacturing company who is suddenly laid off and follows his journey on finding a new job to protect his wife and two children.
Actor Lee Byung-hun will play the laid-off employee Yoo Man-su, while Son will play his wife, Lee Mi-ri.
The film will be Lee Byung-hun’s third collaboration with director Park. The actor previously worked with the director on his films “Joint Security Area” (2000) and “Three, Monster” (2004).
The film is also an adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s novel “The Ax” (1997), which touches on the consequences of corporate downsizing.
“Lee Byung-hun will deliver a powerful performance that captures the desperation and madness of a breadwinner pushed to the edge,” CJ ENM said in a press release.
