Girl group rock band QWER’s agency, 3Y Corporation, said on Monday that it will take legal action against individuals who post malicious comments and false information online about the group.
“We filed our first criminal complaint for defamation and other charges following a review by our law firm on June 20,” the agency said in a statement.
Since June, 3Y Corporation has received more than 250 reports of libel, false information and denigration against QWER, according to the agency.
The agency plans to continue its legal actions by collecting cases through its online monitoring system and reports from fans.
“When it comes to posts in private and closed online communities, fan reports are extremely helpful,” said 3Y Corporation, urging fans to report any defamation and libel against QWER online.
The four-member rock band, consisting of Chodan, Magenta, Hina and Siyeon, debuted on Oct. 18, 2023, with its first single, “Harmony from Discord.” The band also performed at this year’s Pentaport Rock Festival, one of Korea’s largest rock music festivals, held in Incheon on Aug. 2.
