The rebuilt tower is expected to be inaugurated on 22 August, according to the official website of church. The reconstruction of the tower costed around 42 million euros, mainly funded by the federal government and the rest by donations. Critics of the reconstruction fear that the Garrison Church could once again become a rallying point for the right, due to the history of the place in which Reich President Paul von Hindenburg ennobled the new Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler with his handshake in March 1933.
