LG Electronics launches all-in-one robot vacuum-and-mopper

LG Electronics Inc. is launching an all-in-one robotic vacuum cleaner with vacuuming and mopping functions, as it aims to compete with Chinese manufacturers that currently dominate the market.

The company announced Sunday that it will offer a subscription service alongside the launch of the LG RoboKing AI All-in-One on Thursday. The new robotic cleaner offers an “all-in-one” solution that automatically vacuums, wipes, cleans and dries with a start button or scheduled setting.

The LG RoboKing AI All-in-One features a light detection and ranging (Lidar) sensor along with a red, green, and blue (RGB) camera to map optimal routes using artificial intelligence-driven autonomous navigation. It recognizes about 100 types of objects, avoids obstacles, and can climb thresholds up to 20 millimeters high. With a maximum suction power of 10,000 pascals and a mopping function rotating at 180 revolutions per minute, it cleans floor dust and dirt effectively.

The machine also focuses on odor and hygiene management. It uses a proprietary cleaning agent to reduce odors from the waste tank, automatically sprays the agent during mopping, and manages with hot air drying. Intertek tests show that this agent can reduce the formation of sulfur compounds, which cause unpleasant odors, by approximately 30 percent.

The product lineup includes two models: one with an automatic water supply and drainage kit that can be installed under a sink, and a freestanding model without the kit.

The LG RoboKing AI All-in-One is available via LG’s subscription service, which includes regular visits from care experts and free repairs during the subscription period.
