Hyundai Elevator Co. and Kakao Mobility Corp. are teaming up to speed up the commercialization of integrated elevator and robot services.

Hyundai Elevator announced on Thursday that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kakao Mobility on the service commercialization on Wednesday.

The signing ceremony, held at Kakao Mobility’s headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was attended by Hyundai Elevator CEO Cho Jae-cheon and Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Gung-seon among others.

Under the partnership, the two companies plan to establish standard specifications for the integration of elevators and robots applicable to various buildings.

While seeking strategic cooperation for sales and promotion, the two parties will also aim to establish a leading position in the market by leveraging user experience and data, and continue discussions on vertical logistics within buildings.

Hyundai Elevator currently offers integrated services between elevators and delivery robots through its advanced maintenance service, MIRI.

The company provides services such as robot delivery services for pharmaceuticals and room service at 14 locations, including Kakao Corp.’s Pangyo office, Shinhan Bank headquarters, and the National Cancer Center.
