Boy band Seventeen member S.Coups donated 30 million won ($21,809) to animal rights organization Weact on Thursday to celebrate his birthday.
The donation was made in the name of Seventeen’s fan club Carat to help treat dogs and cats in dire conditions and rescue dogs being abused, according to the singer's agency Pledis Entertainment.
The Seventeen member previously donated 30 million won last September to the same organization to help rescue and treat stray animals.
S.Coups has also made several donations to animal-related organizations before, according to his agency Pledis Entertainment.
The Seventeen member donated 50 million won to Angels' Nest, an abandoned animals' shelter, in February last year. The money was used to care for animals living in the shelter and pay for their medical expenses.
S.Coups has donated money to causes outside animals rights as well. The singer donated 20 million won to the Korea Disaster Relief Association in February last year, which was used for earthquake relief in Turkiye and Syria.
Seventeen has donated $1 million to Unesco’s Global Youth Grant Scheme program after being appointed as the organization’s first goodwill ambassador for youth on June 26. The program will support youth-led initiatives worldwide, taking care of the well-being and development of young people globally.
