This year's K-pop music conference MWM will be jointly held with Culture Ministry's pop music fest MU:CON at Grand Hyatt Seoul in Yongsan District, central Seoul, on Sept. 26, conference host Korea Music Content Association announced Tuesday.
In its second edition this year, MWM, which stands for Moving the World with Music, will gather K-pop industry leaders and experts to discuss sustainable growth in the field. Last year's inaugural event focused on the impact of AI in K-pop.
Through the upcoming collaboration with MU:CON, MWM hopes to expand the scope of the conference and "connect musicians with limitless potential to businesses in order for the global K-pop industry to flourish." MU:CON 2024 is slated to run from Sept. 24 to 27 also at Grand Hyatt Hotel, as well as venues in Hongdae in Mapo District, western Seoul.
The 2024 MWM's theme is "Expansion of K-pop: AI and Virtual Artists" (translated). Confirmed speakers include pop culture critic Jung Duk-hyun, co-founder and CEO of voice AI startup Supertone Lee Kyo-gu, president of the Korea Virtual Human Industry Association Seo Kook-han, head of Riot Games Korea Music Jay Kim, founder and CEO of virtual idol broadcaster MetaLocat Lee Sang-heon, CEO of music tech startup Emotion Wave Rio Jang and chief producer Kim Young-min focused on developing original virtual-based IP for concerts at Parable Entertainment.
MWM 2024 will also hold panel discussions and networking events.
More information about the MWM conference is available through its official website.
