Production studio SLL JoongAng will provide its content on a new channel on Rakuten TV, dubbed “Romcom K-Drama,” to make its content more accessible to European viewers, the company said Monday.
"Romcom K-Drama," launched by the Asian free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) company New ID, is a channel on Rakuten TV dedicated to K-drama. Rakuten TV is a global streaming platform operated by the Japanese technology conglomerate Rakuten.
In collaboration with New ID, SLL JoongAng's content such as “Something in the Rain” (2018), “Strong Girl Bong-soon” (2017), “The Light in Your Eyes” (2019) and “Gangnam Beauty” (2018), will be streamed on the channel.
Viewers will be able to watch the channel's content without additional charges because the content is streamed on a FAST platform. A FAST platform is a streaming service offering viewers access to digital television channels for free.
SLL JoongAng, a production studio of JoongAng Group, has previously worked on expanding its content distribution network through FAST platforms and advertising-based video platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, LG Channels and FOX Corporation’s Tubi.
“SLL is pleased to be able to introduce more of its works to new regions through FAST platforms,” Park Chang-sung, the head of SLL JoongAng’s content business, said. “We will continue to strive to expand our content distribution channels beyond TV, streaming service and theaters.”
