CJ Logistics announced on Monday that its Middle Eastern subsidiary, CJ ICM, successfully completed a project logistics operation in Iraq, transporting 1.1 million tons of heavy cargo related to oil refining facilities.

Project logistics refers to the transportation of materials required for large-scale construction projects, such as infrastructure installations and production facilities, within the project timeframe.

CJ ICM participated in the Iraq refinery upgrade project, handling the logistics for large-scale equipment such as oil refining facilities and construction materials over a period of 10 months, starting in June 2023. The operation involved transporting materials unloaded at the southern port of Umm-Qasr to the construction site near Basra, about 95 km away. The cargo included 268 different heavy items, with lengths up to 84 meters and weights up to 890 tons.

CJ Logistics attributed the success of the project to CJ ICM’s unique engineering expertise. The company prevented potential risks such as vehicle overturns or cargo damage by precisely distributing the load of the cargo, ensuring the timely supply of necessary materials.
