Six South Korean power generation companies have formed a united team to generate biomass power. This initiative aims to contribute to the spread of eco-friendly renewable energy by using biomass.

According to sources from the business community on Wednesday, the country’s six power generation companies that use biomass as fuel signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build a biomass industry ecosystem at the Hanwha Building in Seoul on the same day.

The six companies are Hanwha Energy Corp., GS EPS Co., OCI SE Co., Poseung Green Power Co. (a subsidiary of LX International Corp.), Gwangyang Green Energy Co., and CGN Daesan Power Co.

The Biomass Power Generation Council, in which the six companies participate, will form a third-party certification committee. It plans to collaborate with policy authorities to transition to a nationally certified or globally recognized certification system moving forward.
