The inaugural concert of "Dream Concert World," set to be held in Japan on Aug. 10 and 11, is being postponed due to extreme heat, reports said Wednesday.
“We have decided to postpone the concert since it is not a suitable environment for large amounts of people to gather in one place, with the Japanese government issuing national heatstroke warnings,” event organizers told Yonhap.
A heat wave has been affecting Japan, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius (106 degrees Fahrenheit) in some areas on Monday afternoon, according to Japanese news outlets Kyodo News and NHK.
"Dream Concert World" is the newly branded offshoot of "Dream Concert," the longest-running K-pop concert franchise.
It was set to be held at Belluna Dome in Saitama Prefecture and the lineup includes girl groups NewJeans and Kiss of Life and boy bands DAY6, NCT Wish and TWS.
The event organizers told Yonhap that they are discussing the rescheduled event dates with the concert production company in Japan. No new dates or locations were revealed as of Wednesday.
