Korea’s Cho Sung-jae failed to reach the final of the men’s 200-meter breaststroke at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday, slipping behind in a close semifinal despite leading the pack in the earlier qualifiers.
Cho finished in seventh place at Paris La Defense Arena in Paris, finishing with a time of 2:10.03 after slipping back from fourth at the halfway mark.
Reigning world champion Qin Haiyang of China also failed to make the cut, as did long-time favorite Erik Perrson of Sweden.
Cho was the second Korean swimmer to fall short in the pool on Tuesday, after Kim Min-seop also missed the cut in the men’s 200-meter butterfly final.
