Samsung SDI reports $202 mn OP for Q2, down year-on-year

Samsung SDI Co.’s operating profit for the second quarter of 2024 was 280.2 billion won ($202 million), down 37.8 percent from the same period during the previous year, according to regulatory filings on Tuesday.

Revenue was 4.45 trillion won, down 23.8 percent from a year earlier. Net profit fell 38 percent to 301.2 billion won, and the second-quarter operating profit was 5.4 percent lower than the market forecast of 296.1 billion won, according to Yonhap Infomax.

Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. also saw its second-quarter operating profit fall 51.9 percent year-on-year to 104.8 billion won, according to a regulatory filing on the same day.

The figure was 14.9 percent below the market forecast of 123.2 billion won compiled by Yonhap Infomax. Revenue was 2.82 trillion won, up 13.8 percent from a year earlier, while net profit fell 52.7 percent to 96.5 billion won.

Meanwhile, Taihan Electric Wire Co. reported on the same day that its operating profit for the second quarter of this year was 37.4 billion won, up 55.8 percent from the same period in 2023, while revenue was 864.3 billion won, up 14.6 percent year-on-year.
