South Korea’s LIG Nex1 has finalized the acquisition of American 4-leg robot specialist Ghost Robotics and is setting its sights on the North American market.

LIG Nex1 announced on Monday that its U.S. subsidiary LNGR LLC, a special purpose company, invested about $240 million to acquire a 60 percent stake in Ghost Robotics. LIG Nex1 had been pursuing the acquisition since late 2023 and completed all necessary procedures, including receiving approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), on July 26th, 2024.

Ghost Robotics, founded in 2015 by two scientists from the University of Pennsylvania, is a Philadelphia-based company specializing in quadrupedal robots. Its flagship product, the Vision 60, features 12 actuators and is known for its long battery life compared to competitor products. The Vision 60 operates smoothly on uneven terrains such as gravel and hills and can move quickly through water.
