Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Istanbul and in Ankara Saturday to protest a proposed legislation that critics fear will lead to the mass killing of stray dogs across Turkey. The draft bill aims to regulate the country's millions of stray dogs and make streets safer but animal rights advocates are concerned many of them would be put down or end up in neglected, overcrowded shelters.
