BC Card develops deep learning AI model for Korean finance

BC Card Co. has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) model optimized for Korean finance and plans to make it available to everyone for free, the South Korean financial services company said on Thursday.

The K-Finance Specific AI is the country’s first large language model (LLM) optimized for Korea‘s financial sector. It was developed over six months by BC Card’s IT Planning Division in collaboration with KT Consulting Group under the Technology Innovation Division at KT Corp.

An LLM is a deep learning AI model that converts vast amounts of data collected from the internet into human-understandable sentences, providing information in an easily comprehensible way.

This AI model is based on Meta Platforms Inc.‘s large language model Llama3 and is equipped with Korean language learning capabilities as well as a wide range of financial knowledge.

While a majority of LLMs in Korea have around 8 billion parameters, this model utilizes 20 billion parameters.
