Genesis inks 5-yr sponsorship with Metropolitan Museum of Art

Genesis, South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury vehicle brand, entered into a five-year sponsorship agreement with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The partnership, announced on Tuesday, will sponsor installations by contemporary artists, including Korean performance and installation artist Lee Bul, on the museum’s front façade starting in September 2024.

The Met, founded in 1870, is one of the world’s premier art institutions with a collection that spans 5,000 years and attracts over 7 million visitors annually. Under the agreement, Genesis will sponsor the Façade Commission, the Met’s contemporary art exhibition series inaugurated in 2019. This series has showcased works by renowned artists such as Carol Bove, Wangechi Mutu, Hew Donald Joseph Locke, and Nairy Baghramian.

Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We look forward to contributing to inspiring many people and sharing the visions of globally respected creators via this partnership.”
