Hyundai Motor has built a network of EV chargers in Indonesia, teaming up with seven EV-charging service providers in the country.
The company announced Tuesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding for the partnership with seven local charging companies, including Dayagreen, Utomo Charge+ and Buzz, on the sidelines of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show on Friday.
Hyundai Motor's EV customers in Indonesia can conveniently use the charging facilities of the affiliated companies via the MyHyundai smartphone app without needing to register separately or set up unique payment methods.
The automaker is the first in the Southeast Asian country to introduce a system that allows users to freely pay to use multiple companies' charging facilities with a single app, it said in a statement.
The participating companies operate a total of 429 stations with 696 EV chargers in Indonesia, accounting for approximately 97 percent of the country's commercial EV-charging infrastructure.
Hyundai is also launching an EV-charging service program that provides new EV customers with 50 free kilowatt-hours of charging each month for one year at stations affiliated with the partnership.
"We have entered into a business agreement to provide the most convenient charging service for EV customers," a Hyundai official said, adding, "As a leader in Indonesia's electric vehicle market, Hyundai will do its utmost to ensure that customers can easily access our products, services and infrastructure."
In Singapore, the automaker is also expanding a partnership for a private charging service. It will provide home chargers at private estates jointly with Schneider Electric, a leading AC charger provider in Singapore.
