Doosan Enerbility Co., South Korea’s power plant builder, announced on Monday that it has signed a 580 billion won ($417.9 million) deal with Korea Midland Power Co. on a combined cycle power plant in Haman County, South Gyeongsang Province.

Under the contract, Doosan Enerbility will build a power block and manufacture main equipment. The company will supply a 380-megawatt (MW) giant gas turbine, steam turbine, and auxiliary equipment, all developed using indigenous technology.

Power blocks refer to industrial zones full of core equipment necessary for power generation, including turbines, generators, and cooling systems.

The latest contract has led Doosan Enerbility’s cumulative orders for manufacturing and servicing giant gas turbines to surpass 1 trillion won.

The company began the business in June 2023 with a contract from Korea Midland Power Co. to supply main components, including turbines to a combined cycle power plant in Boryeong.

Gas turbines with a capacity of 300 MW or more are deemed as giant.

Doosan Enerbility has set a goal of reaching 9.9 trillion won in cumulative orders for its gas turbine business by 2028. In the mid-to-long-term, the company aims to secure more than 100 cumulative orders for power generation turbines by 2038.
