Pakistani authorities announce reopening of Spin Boldak border with Afghanistan

Pakistan's Chaman officials on 21 July declared the reopening of the Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing after a ten-month closure. Despite the announcement, Spin Boldak District Commissionerate officials in Afghanistan and travelers report that the Pakistani authorities are still not permitting entry for individuals using only Afghan Tazkira identity cards. Passengers attempting to cross the border on 22 July found that visas and passports were still required. Authorities have cautioned individuals against attempting to cross the border until a clear resolution is achieved to avoid further complications. Chaman, located in Pakistan's Balochistan, is the second busiest border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following Torkham in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
