Actor Hwang Jung-eum is dating a basketball star amid an ongoing divorce process with her husband, according to her agency.
"They are still carefully getting to know each other," said the actor's agency Y1 Entertainment on Sunday. The name of the basketball player has not been revealed as of Monday evening.
The two met during a difficult time for Hwang and became close, according to local media reports.
Hwang married former golfer Lee Young-don in February 2016 and had a son the following August. However, she filed for divorce mediation in September 2020.
While undergoing divorce mediation, the two announced their reconciliation in July of the following year and had a second son in March 2022. About three years later, Hwang filed for divorce.
"What a beautiful and considerate husband you were," said Hwang on her Instagram, posting photos of Lee at the time. "This is my husband Lee, who had so much fun and kept himself so busy while being married to me. Now, you are free to go and enjoy."
Hwang lent more than 900 million won ($648,300) to Lee and filed a civil lawsuit when she did not receive the money back, according to local media reports.
Hwang debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group Sugar in 2002. Since the group's breakup, Hwang committed herself to acting and has appeared in many shows and dramas, including the SBS drama "Giant" (2010) and MBC sitcom "High Kick Through The Roof" (2009-2010).
