South Korean energy companies plan to complete their commitment to an offshore wind farm construction project in South Jeolla Province, with a cost of 2.3 trillion won ($1.65 billion).

The project, Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm Construction, began early in 2024 and is scheduled to end in July 2026.

A council consisting of more than 100 energy companies that are participating in the project said in a statement, “The project is of great importance as it contributes to the growth of the Korean offshore wind supply chain and generates large-scale investment and employment. Companies on the roster include Taihan Cable & Solution Co. and GS ENTEC Corp.

The initiative involves building a 364.8-megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm in the shared waters of Anma Island and Songi Island in Nakwol, South Jeolla Province. Infrastructure work for grid-connected facilities such as switchgear and substations is well underway, alongside the construction of harbor structures for a temporary pier installation.
