A total of $22 million has been used in commissioning artists to create their work, according to Kukje Gallery. The project has been spearheaded by New York-based nonprofit organization Public Art Fund.

Yang will create an installation that will hang from the ceiling down toward a location with heavy passenger traffic, focusing on the idea of immigration, traveland homelessness, according to Kukje Gallery.

"Immigration and movement are not limited to expressing the simple realities of the real world," Yang said in a press release. "It is a symbol of the restless mind. We create movement through our changing thoughts and newly made ideals. That very mental movement gives us the opportunity to be with other people through immigration."

Yang is set to hold an exhibition titled "Flat Works" at the Arts Club of Chicago from Sept. 18 to Dec. 20, as well as a solo exhibition at London's Hayward Gallery titled "Leap Year" from Oct. 9 to Jan. 5 next year. She will also participate at the third Lahore Biennale in Pakistan, set to take place from Oct. 5 to Nov. 8, with "Shalimar Gardens."
